Quick & easy Steps to get Fuller and Voluminous Lips

Hey everybody,

Today I am going to share a few tips and tricks to make your lips look fuller and glamorous. Personally I don't have very small or undefined lips. But I know a lot of people face this issue. So these tips will definitely help them.  Surely we are not trying to achieve Angelina Jolie's natural pout or anything, nevertheless I will share a few tips to make your natural lips look bigger and voluminous. So lets get started.

Firstly, I want to give a few tips which will help us achieve this look better.

  • Always make sure you don't have chappy or cracked lips (especially while working with matt formula lipsticks). I try to always exfoliate my lips twice a week.(homemade sugar-oil scrub or any other lip exfoliate should do). Using a lip balm regularly can prevent chapping too.
  • If you really want to bring out your lips then exfoliate just before putting your makeup with any natural oil and an old toothbrush for 2-3  minutes. This will help with better blood circulation making them look fuller.
  • If you are a beginner with over-lining or even natural lining your lips try using flesh tone lip liners or 2-3 shades darker than your skintone. It will look more natural and it is also easier to work with.
  • Avoid using extremely dark and cool tone shades like berry, cola or even dark red. Not only dark shades make your lips smaller also its tough to work with them without practice and we want to make our lips look naturally big.
  • Try using matt formula lipsticks if you are over lining your lips as its easier to work with blending it with lip liner.
  • Try using a lip plumper or any lip gloss with with peppermint or spearmint. The tingling effect plumps your lips.
So now I am going to demonstrate easy and detailed steps to get perfect looking lips.
These are my bare lips with absolutely nothing on it

1. Firstly I applied a very very thin layer of a lip balm. This will smooth out my lips and keep them hydrated. I did not exfoliate my lips today but you can surely do that step before this. The lip balm I used is from Body Shop (Born Lippy-satsuma).

2. I am showing this look with a bright dusty rose lip color. As I wanted to show you each step and using a bright shade shows up better in the pictures. I also did the same look with a more nude shade too and inserted the picture in the end (so hang on till then). So I have taken this true pink color lip liner (Ulta-602), you can use any lip liner just make sure its sharpened and preferably water-proof.

3. Now I am going to line my lips. I usually squeeze my lips between my teeth and start lining from the top. I really make sure to define my cupid's bow (this will define your top lip). If your top lip is smaller than you can slightly overdraw your cupid's bow and then follow your natural lip line. I personally do not like to do that.
Then I line my lower lip and when I reach the center I slightly overdraw. I take the pencil slightly below the natural line from the center (you can see in the left picture) and take it right below my lip line and connect it with the natural lip line. Also I try to shade my entire lip with it. I repeat the step with the top lip.

4. So now we are done lining the lips, it is time to apply a matt lipstick. Today I am  using my favorite dusty pink matt lipstick from Chambor (156-Rose fresque).

5. This is easy, just apply it all over your lips and make sure to stay with the line we drew.

6. Now I am going to take a bronzer (Youstar sun) and an eyeshadow blending brush (Sigma E25) and just apply it on the center of my bottom lip just exactly where the shadow of my lip falls. This will create an illusion of a bigger lip and bring your lower lip stand out.

After applying bronzer below the center of bottom lip

7. I also highlight my cupid's bow (top lip) by applying a highlighter on it by my ring finger. Again this will accentuate the shape and bring it forward.  I have used Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in bronze (the top gold shade from the picture below).
8. Next I am using a lip plumper as a gloss. I am using Victoria's secret lip plumper. The reason I use this is because it has peppermint in it which tingles and circulates the blood around your lips making them look full ALL DAY!! If you don't have any then you can create your own lip plumper by adding a few drops of peppermint oil to any sheer gloss. If not you can use any plain lip gloss instead. I just use it in the center area of my top and bottom lip. This brings forward the highlighted area and create a fuller illusion. Try not covering your entire lips with the gloss.

And we are done. This is the final result. You can compare the picture below with the first picture and see the difference.

Final look :)

And that is it. This look is very simple and easy to create. I hope you guys try these tricks and get your lips looking fuller and sexy.

Also I wanted to try out this look with a nudey brown shade and show the look so the next picture is of comparing this look in pink and the subtle nude brown (which I totally love!!).
Comparing two lip options

So yeah guys that's it. I really tried explaining and showing in detail. Let me know what else you would wanna read next in the comment section below.

My five must have makeup products!

Hey everybody,

So today I am starting with something very basic  and absolutely essential which are my 5 must have makeup items which I believe I can not do without. These are just a few products which according to me are essential in my vanity kit (there are obviously a lot other products I use :P). So lets get started.

1. Mascara

Okay so lets get real guys! Mascara and I are inseparable. In my opinion every girl should own a mascara as it makes a huge difference to your eyes and makeup. Any makeup look may it be simple, glam, sultry is just incomplete without this thing. There are days when I would wear nothing on my eyes but mascara and it would add so much life and femininity to my look. The one I adore currently is Better Than Sex from Too Faced which is a bomb product. I use about 2-3 coats usually. I got mine from Beautybay.com for $23. I really doubt its availability in India. But if your obsession for long, thick and curled up lashes is real, this product is totally worth trying (despite the cost). I have very short lashes and this thing really makes my lashes look superglam. Other amazing mascaras I have used for years are They are Real by Benefit (available at Sephora) and Diorshow by Dior. Maybelline Falsies Waterproof and Loreal Million lashes are great too which are a lot cheaper, easily available and works amazing as well. But I would still prefer my Better Than Sex.

2.Concealer
Now this is something I have become obsessed with very recently. A concealer is such a multi-purpose product and I use it for  covering dark circles, blemishes, highlighting and also priming my eyelids. It can be also used as a sheer layer of foundation if you want a light coverage (yes I have tried it). And out of all the things on my face I really want my undereyes to look bright and make me look fresh. Also I use it to cover-up any imperfections or dark spots. I am loving my current concealer from Maybelline Age rewind in shade 130 Honeymelon. I picked this one from US last month for $10 but I am sure you can find this online on Amazon or Ebay too. This is a lightweight medium coverage concealer which does not CREASE on me!(though I have to gently set it with powder). My other favorites are Mac Studio fix concealer(very high coverage) and Stilla perfecting Concealer(very creamy and long wearing). Both of these are from Rs 1300 to Rs 1500. But they are very heavy concealers and have a tendency to crease over a few hours of wear, so I don't use them everyday. If you have purplish blue dark circles pick up a shade or two lighter than your skin color preferably with peachy beige undertone to neutralize the darkness and brighten your eyes. Honestly, I have seen a tremendous difference after changing my shade into a lighter shade.

3. Eyebrow Pencil
Doing up your brows has picked up so much recently and tons of brow products are budding in the market as well. I would always and always shapeup and groom my brows and make sure they are always on point (even on my no makeup days). According to me it will give you an instant eye lift and add on to your personality. I totally love my Anastasia Beverly Hills Skinny Brow Wiz in shade Dark Brown (which should be most common for us Indians). I mean I get it. The global hype for this product is just so worthy. A little tip: Always try using shades which are not completely true black as it can go little over the top. If you are lighter try medium or soft brown and if you are darker try blackish brown but not jet black. This brow pencil stays put for hours, blends very well, looks natural hairlike and does not feel waxy (nothing I can complain about the performace the product). I got mine from BeautyBay.com for $21. The other pencils I have used and highly recommend are from Chanel and BodyShop  both in dark brown but ABH is my jam. Oh yes, also there are several days I would use just plain dark brown eyeshadow with an angled flat eyebrush to fill in my brows. It would work great just as well (but it requires a little practice).

4. Matt Bronzer
Okay, so I cant even begin to explain how versatile a product a matt bronzer is. I own a lot of bronzers (glowing, shimmery, matt) from several brands and I love all of them. But a true matt brozer is something I would always reach for everyday. My current love is Loreal Glam bronze (no shade color mentioned). I picked this from the Delhi Airport for about Rs 900. This is a very good beginner's bronzer as it blends well and is highly build-able. I would use it heavily to contour or lightly to add color or use as a blush. I use it a lot as an eyeshadow as well and it looks very natural and pretty. As you can see it also has a highlighter but I don't use it as much. I also own a pressed powder by Mac Studio Fix in two shades darker than my skin color. It works just as good. I absolutely love shimmer bronzers and liquid bronzers but I would mostly wear them in the evenings or for fancy events. But a true Matt Bronzer is an everyday baby. If you are fair skinned or darker you can wear bronzers and look great. Hoola by Benefit is another great matt bronzer but its a tat bit light for my complexion :(.

5. Matt Lippies
How can be a lipstick not be a girls must have. I mean come on! Every girl on this planet has to love lippies and each one would have their favorites. There is not enough of lip products one can have. I totally understand. I love all the kinds we have in the market today from traditional cream  to matt liquid lipsticks, matt finish to shiny glosses. may it be lip liners, plumpers or lip stains I would use them all and still not have enough (honest confession huh). But for an everyday wear I would totally pick up a Matt finish Lipstick from Mac and my everytime to-go color with absolutely any look is Taupe. I picked it for Rs 1200. Its a nudey brown with slight peach. It will never dry my lips out and wear for hours. I also love wearing a nude cream lipstick (the one displayed is Dior ultra shine in shade 342) and a nudey brown lip liner (BH cosmetics in shade Nude). I will switch between these and I would also wear the lipliner itself and top up a lip balm or a sheer gloss on random days. But if I gotta choose one I would definitely go for my Mac.
So these were my five makeup essentials. Lemme know what else you would wanna read in the comment section below.
