Hey everybody,
Today I am going to share a few tips and tricks to make your lips look fuller and glamorous. Personally I don't have very small or undefined lips. But I know a lot of people face this issue. So these tips will definitely help them. Surely we are not trying to achieve Angelina Jolie's natural pout or anything, nevertheless I will share a few tips to make your natural lips look bigger and voluminous. So lets get started.
Firstly, I want to give a few tips which will help us achieve this look better.
- Always make sure you don't have chappy or cracked lips (especially while working with matt formula lipsticks). I try to always exfoliate my lips twice a week.(homemade sugar-oil scrub or any other lip exfoliate should do). Using a lip balm regularly can prevent chapping too.
- If you really want to bring out your lips then exfoliate just before putting your makeup with any natural oil and an old toothbrush for 2-3 minutes. This will help with better blood circulation making them look fuller.
- If you are a beginner with over-lining or even natural lining your lips try using flesh tone lip liners or 2-3 shades darker than your skintone. It will look more natural and it is also easier to work with.
- Avoid using extremely dark and cool tone shades like berry, cola or even dark red. Not only dark shades make your lips smaller also its tough to work with them without practice and we want to make our lips look naturally big.
- Try using matt formula lipsticks if you are over lining your lips as its easier to work with blending it with lip liner.
- Try using a lip plumper or any lip gloss with with peppermint or spearmint. The tingling effect plumps your lips.
So now I am going to demonstrate easy and detailed steps to get perfect looking lips.
1. Firstly I applied a very very thin layer of a lip balm. This will smooth out my lips and keep them hydrated. I did not exfoliate my lips today but you can surely do that step before this. The lip balm I used is from Body Shop (Born Lippy-satsuma).
2. I am showing this look with a bright dusty rose lip color. As I wanted to show you each step and using a bright shade shows up better in the pictures. I also did the same look with a more nude shade too and inserted the picture in the end (so hang on till then). So I have taken this true pink color lip liner (Ulta-602), you can use any lip liner just make sure its sharpened and preferably water-proof.
3. Now I am going to line my lips. I usually squeeze my lips between my teeth and start lining from the top. I really make sure to define my cupid's bow (this will define your top lip). If your top lip is smaller than you can slightly overdraw your cupid's bow and then follow your natural lip line. I personally do not like to do that.
Then I line my lower lip and when I reach the center I slightly overdraw. I take the pencil slightly below the natural line from the center (you can see in the left picture) and take it right below my lip line and connect it with the natural lip line. Also I try to shade my entire lip with it. I repeat the step with the top lip.
4. So now we are done lining the lips, it is time to apply a matt lipstick. Today I am using my favorite dusty pink matt lipstick from Chambor (156-Rose fresque).
5. This is easy, just apply it all over your lips and make sure to stay with the line we drew.
6. Now I am going to take a bronzer (Youstar sun) and an eyeshadow blending brush (Sigma E25) and just apply it on the center of my bottom lip just exactly where the shadow of my lip falls. This will create an illusion of a bigger lip and bring your lower lip stand out.
7. I also highlight my cupid's bow (top lip) by applying a highlighter on it by my ring finger. Again this will accentuate the shape and bring it forward. I have used Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in bronze (the top gold shade from the picture below).
8. Next I am using a lip plumper as a gloss. I am using Victoria's secret lip plumper. The reason I use this is because it has peppermint in it which tingles and circulates the blood around your lips making them look full ALL DAY!! If you don't have any then you can create your own lip plumper by adding a few drops of peppermint oil to any sheer gloss. If not you can use any plain lip gloss instead. I just use it in the center area of my top and bottom lip. This brings forward the highlighted area and create a fuller illusion. Try not covering your entire lips with the gloss.
And we are done. This is the final result. You can compare the picture below with the first picture and see the difference.
And that is it. This look is very simple and easy to create. I hope you guys try these tricks and get your lips looking fuller and sexy.
